How it is billed

A dollar a person, and everything is in it

Paying by the head sounds fair until you notice what it makes you do: leave people off, share logins, and think twice before hiring. That is not caused by counting people — it is caused by the price. Ours is a dollar a person a month, or $10.20 a year, and it is free while we are in early access.

What the usual seat price really costs

Rarely the headline number. It is the behaviour it creates — and every one of these comes from a seat costing seven or fourteen dollars at the big suites, not from the counting.

  1. You leave people off

The warehouse team, the drivers, the part-time staff — the people who need an address and nothing else are the first ones cut from the licence count when a licence is seven dollars. At one, nobody is worth cutting.

  2. People share a login

Two people on one account, because a second one costs money. Now nothing in your audit trail means anything, and removing one of them removes both.

  3. It scales against you

Every hire becomes a second, smaller decision about software. A dollar is not a decision; seven or fourteen is, and that is the difference.

  4. The number only goes up

Seat prices rise, and they rise across a headcount that is also rising, so the two compound. Ours is a dollar and the whole product is in it — there is no upgrade to be moved onto later.

What we do instead

A dollar a person, a month, for the whole product — or $10.20 a person for a year bought up front.

Add everybody. The whole company, including the people who will only ever use email, including the seasonal staff, including the person who started this morning. At a dollar each, none of the four decisions above is a decision any more — which is the point. A hundred people is a hundred dollars, and there is no tier where the useful part lives.

And it is free while we are in early access — no card, nothing to cancel, room for up to 200 people at first and more once we have looked at your company, usually within a working day.

That will not be free forever, and saying so now is deliberate. When it changes you get a month's notice and the price in writing before you decide anything. And if you would rather leave at that point, ask us and your mail, your messages and your files come with you within 30 days, in a form other software can open. A free tier that quietly becomes a bill is how you lose the people who took a chance on you first, and those are the ones worth keeping.

What one price includes

All of it, in the one dollar. There is no tier where the useful thing lives.

  1. Email on your own domain

For everybody, with shared addresses, rules, signatures and out-of-office.

  2. Chat and video meetings

Channels, direct messages, screen sharing and recording, in the browser.

  3. Documents and spreadsheets

Written and edited together in the browser, stored in your own workspace.

  4. Files with real permissions

Shared with the whole company, one department, or named people only.

  5. Hours, leave and staff records

Shifts, lateness, leave balances, public holidays, records and reporting lines.

  6. Hosting and nightly backups

Run for you, held off-site. There is no server for you to look after.

Questions

Is there a charge on top of the per-person price?

Only for storage beyond what each person includes: 5 GB for each person, their own. Otherwise a dollar a person a month is the whole price — there is no tier where the useful part lives, no separate bill for the HR side, and no module sold as an add-on. A person costs a dollar, which is cheap enough that nobody should be left without an account to save money.

What happens when the free period ends?

You get a month's notice and the price in writing before you have to decide anything. If you would rather leave, you are handed a copy of everything, including the mail, in a format other software can read.

Is there a minimum number of people?

No minimum, and no maximum. It is the same product for eight people as for eighty. Past a couple of thousand people, talk to us first — the answer is still yes, but the machine has a real size and we would rather plan it with you.

Do we pay extra for storage, meetings or recording?

Not for meetings, recording or documents — they are part of the workspace, not add-ons. Storage is the one thing that can cost more: files and documents come with 5 GB for each person, their own, and more room for each person is charged on top, at a price you are told before anything is charged. Mail works between everyone at your company and to and from the rest of the world, all inside the same price.

Can we pay yearly?

Yes, once there is something to pay. A year bought up front is $10.20 a person — 15% less than the $1 a month — and month by month it is $1 a person, stopped whenever you like.

Add everyone. It costs the same.
