On your phone

Your work mail, calendar and contacts in your phone’s own apps

Make a phone password in Mail settings and your iPhone sets itself up in one tap — mail, calendar and contacts. Any other phone gets the settings to copy, and one button stops all of it on every phone.

Setting it up

  1. Make a phone password

In Mail settings, under Mail on your phone. It is shown once: sixteen letters in four groups, easy to type on a phone keyboard.

  2. On an iPhone, one tap

Press Set up this iPhone. The phone installs mail, calendar and contacts, and asks for the password once for each. It will say the profile is not verified; that is expected.

  3. On any other phone, copy

The server and your mailbox for mail, with the ports for reading and sending; and for the calendar and contacts, one server address and your work address — each with a Copy button.

  4. Read, send and sync as usual

Mail sent from the phone leaves from your own address, like mail sent in the browser. Your meetings and your colleagues stay up to date by themselves.

Your calendar and contacts on the phone

Your meetings, in the phone’s own Calendar

New Everything you are invited to, with its repeats, in the same calendar you use in the browser. A meeting you make or change on the phone is yours alone; one somebody else organised, or one with colleagues or guests on it, is changed in Meetowt, where the people on it are told.

Your colleagues, in Contacts

New The company’s people with their address, job title, department and work phone, kept up to date as people join and leave. Never anybody’s personal address, and it cannot be edited from a phone.

Android, and any calendar app

New DAVx5 on Android, or any calendar app that speaks CalDAV and CardDAV: three things to type — the server address, your work address and the phone password.

Why a password of its own

Your mailbox, diary and contact list — and nothing else

It opens your mail, your calendar and the company’s contacts — not Meetowt, not chat, not files. A lost phone costs those, not a workspace.

Stop every phone at once

Making a new phone password stops the old one; Stop mail on every phone stops them all — mail, calendar and contacts. Mail in the browser carries on.

Encrypted first

Every connection is encrypted before your password crosses it, on a proper certificate.

Good to know

  • Mail programs on a computer — Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail — work with the same settings, typed in by hand.
  • New A phone password made before the calendar came to the phone has to be made again, once — the screen says so. Accepting or declining an invitation is done in Meetowt, not from the phone’s calendar, and only your own company’s calendar is on the phone.
  • The iPhone profile holds no password — the phone asks for it while it installs.
  • New To be told when mail arrives, add Meetowt itself to your Home Screen and turn on notifications — the phone’s mail app is for reading, and Meetowt is for being told. Meetowt on your phone
